Take an architectural journey through the ages with a walking tour of Berlin’s Museum Island.Highlights- Find out about a unique collection of buildings - Discover how modern museum design has developed - Learn about five world-class museums Located in the heart of the city, right in the middle of the River Spree, Museum Island is host to five world-class museums. Join your guide for a journey back in time to find out how such an island came to exist from its first museum in 1830, and to discover how modern museum design has developed through the times. A Unesco World Heritage Site itself since 1999, the Museum Island is a unique collection of buildings. Near the Schlossbrücke bridge to the south of the island we find the first museum, Altes Museum, built in 1830 in a Neoclassical design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. To the north of the island, you can see the New Museum (Neues Museum), which suffered heavy damage during the war and only recently reopened in 2009, as well as the old National Gallery. By the Kupfergraben canal stands the Pergamon Museum, the most visited museum in Berlin, and closing the tour is the Bode Museum, built between 1887 and 1904. Others The tour includes hotel pick up and transport to the city centre. The rest of the tour will be on foot. Redeem informationVoucher type: PrintedPrinted Voucher.
