This is the perfect tour for witnessing a sema whirling ceremony, a form of entertainment which is a well-recognized symbol of Turkey.

At the historic Galata Mevlevihanesi you will witness a sema whirling ceremony which represents a mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent, accompanied by the haunting, mournful music of the traditional ney reed flute.

Not only are Whirling Dervishes a well-recognised symbol of Turkey, they are also members of the Sufi Order of Islam, or the Mevlevi—followers of the 13th century poet and mystic Mevlana Celaddin Rumi.

This is a great tour to soak up some traditional Turkish culture.
