South Iceland Camping on a Shoestring

For many travellers, Iceland can be difficult to reach not for its remoteness, but for its cost. We didn’t think it was fair that people working with tight budgets had to miss out on one of the world’s most fascinating places. Hence this short-and-sweet five-day adventure that goes deep into the island nation’s southern half without doing a deep dive into your wallet. You’ll hike across massive glaciers, wander volcanic black-sand beaches, discover hot springs and waterfalls, and explore the natural wonders of the fabled Golden Circle. And by forgoing hotels most nights in favour of camping, you get an appreciation for the stunning landscape while keeping your costs in check. See? Less really is more!

While it is our intention to adhere to the route described below, there is a certain amount of flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable to make alterations. The itinerary is brief, as we never know exactly where our journey will take us. Due to our style of travel and the regions we visit, travel can be unpredictable. The Trip Details document is a general guide to the tour and region and any mention of specific destinations or wildlife is by no means a guarantee that they will be visited or encountered. Solo Travellers

We believe solo travellers should not have to pay more to travel so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travellers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and solo travellers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.
